Applications for the Kate Barlow Award are now open. The goal of this award is to motivate the next generation of bat scientists by a substantive contribution towards the research study expenses of postgraduate trainees carrying out research study that will benefit bat preservation.

The Kate Barlow Award was developed in the memory of Dr Kate Barlow, previous Head of Keeping an eye on with the Bat Preservation Trust, who passed away in2015 Kate Barlow was a leading figure in wildlife preservation, an enthusiastic supporter for bats and bat preservation worldwide, and an enthusiast of experience.

Award

  • One award of as much as ₤ 4,500 will be made, towards the expenses of a bat research study job of no less than 4 months period. The funds should be utilized towards research study expenses (e.g. consumables, travel) and can not be utilized as a trainee stipend or to pay University charges or overheads;-LRB- *************).
  • In addition BCT will spend for the award winner to go to either the BCT National Bat Conference or another pertinent bat research study and preservation conference.

Eligibility

  • Open to postgraduate trainees throughout the world performing research study which has a direct significance for bat preservation;-LRB- *************).
  • The proposed job needs to belong to a Masters or PhD program and the trainee should be signed up at a scholastic organization;-LRB- *************).
  • The job should be a minimum of 4 months (full-time) in period;-LRB- *************).
  • The proposition should be composed by the candidate who will personally carry out the research study;-LRB- *************).
  • All financed tasks should start no behind 6 months following the date of the award;-LRB- *************).
  • Applicants can not reapply if they have actually succeeded in previous years;-LRB- *************).
  • Effective candidates should provide a report( s) and pertinent photos of the research study development. Short yearly reports are needed for tasks lasting more than one year; the last report must be sent within 3 years following the date of the award.

Assessment Requirements

Proposed tasks should fulfill the following requirements:

  • Have direct significance for bat preservation
    Be possible within the proposed timespan
  • Be economical
