Applications for the CONNECTED/IITA Vector and Infection Diagnostics Training Course 2019 are now open. Early profession scientists dealing with plant illness brought by bug vectors are welcomed to get complete financing to go to a five-day initial level vector and infection diagnostics course in Ibadan, Nigeria, in November 2019.

The course is being run by LINKED in association with The International Institute of Tropical Farming (IITA), Newcastle University, and The Natural Resources Institute, University of Greenwich, UK. ‘The application of molecular diagnostics for plant infection monitoring’ will perform at IITA in Ibadan from November 4-8, 2019.

The course will consist of an intro to DNA barcoding and an isothermal amplification masterclass, useful sessions will consist of:

  • DNA extraction on plants and bugs
  • Polymerase Domino Effect (PCR)
  • Gel Electrophoresis and sample preparation for sequencing
  • Series analysis
  • Loop moderated AMPlification (LIGHT) and Recombinase Polymerase Amplification (RPA)
  • PCR/LAMP guide style.

In in between useful sessions, there will be lecture input on diagnostic strategies, recognition, quality control, troubleshooting, and regional problems such as reagent acquiring, storage and garbage disposal.

Financing

  • The collaboration plan will completely money travel, lodging, subsistence and all training expenses for approximately 20 effective candidates.

Eligibility

  • All LINKED network members who are early profession scientists are qualified to use, with choice provided to those based in nations in the OECD DAC list
