Due Date: September 30, 2019

Applications are open for the Environment, Food and Farming– Global Research Study Alliance Advancement Scholarship (CLIFF-GRADS) Program 2019 The CLIFF-GRADS program welcomes applications for short-term (4-6 month) clinical training and research study on the measurement and management of greenhouse gas emissions and carbon storage in farming systems.

Trainees from establishing nations who are presently registered in PhD research study associated to farming greenhouse gas metrology or mitigation are qualified to use. Research study will be performed in association with CCAFS and GRA researchers’ jobs. Applications are asked for on either of 2 styles:

  • Measurement and mitigation of farming greenhouse gas emissions or carbon storage in farming systems in establishing nations, consisting of in the context of improving food security;-LRB- ***************).
  • Metrology and mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions from minimized food loss in high emission supply chains (e.g. dairy, beef, veggies, fruits) in establishing nations, consisting of evaluation of expenses and restraints to mitigation.

Background

CLIFF-GRADS is a joint effort of the CGIAR Research Study Program on Environment Modification, Farming and Food Security’s (CCAFS) Low Emissions Advancement Flagship and the Global Research Study Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA).

CLIFF-GRADS incorporates the Global Research study Alliance Advancement Scholarship and the Environment Food and Farming Research Study Network with the typical objective of offering grants to PhD trainees in establishing nations to broaden their understanding and experience in metrology of farming greenhouse gases. Research study jobs are hosted by CCAFS and GRA members and partners. Financing for CLIFF-GRADS is offered by the Federal government of New Zealand, USAID and by the CGIAR Trust Fund and bilateral arrangements in assistance of CCAFS.

Grant

  • Selected trainees will be sponsored in the quantity of $10,000– $12,000 USD.

Eligibility

  • Candidates need to be presently registered PhD trainees in a field associated to metrology of greenhouse gas emissions or carbon sequestration in farming systems
  • Candidates need to be trainees from an establishing nation
  • Previous CLIFF-GRADS beneficiaries are not qualified to use

Choice Requirements

Applicants will be chosen based upon 3 requirements:

  • Total research study certifications,
  • Importance of thesis subject or other research study experience to the research study chance to which the trainee is using, and
  • Clear description of how the CLIFF-GRADS experience will enhance the trainee’s clinical capability.

Application

Candidates need to finish the CLIFF-GRADS Trainee Application online study and send the needed documents as explained listed below to [email protected]

Applications need to remain in English and consist of the following files combined into one PDF file:

  • 1-2 page inspiration letter (explained listed below)

  • Letter of assistance from your PhD manager at your existing host university

The inspiration letter, which need to disappear than 2 A4 pages, need to consist of the following:

  • Your name, citizenship and the nation where you are performing your graduate research study
  • The goals of your graduate research study
  • The particular research study chance (number and title) to which you are using (see list listed below). If you have an interest in more than one research study chance, please list your favored research study chances (approximately 3) in order of choice.
  • Your certifications to carry out research study on greenhouse gas emissions from farming or soil carbon storage in farming systems, as pertinent to the research study chance for which you are using
  • A description of how clinical training with CCAFS/GRA researchers will enhance your graduate research study and add to your profession.
